Well done to our guys who made it around the hot, hilly, windy course. Was really great to watch, as there were 2 battles going on. The first one with the faster guys to see if Lee (who was quicker on the swim and bike) would hold out on the run (Rich put up a valient fight but injury got the better of him, so he did well to finish). And the second to see if Tom (in his first IM) would hold off Ross on the run. The results (well done to all): 503 Jer Dale 11.58.15 (1.07.20,6.23.57,4.14.22) 558 Lee Francis 12.09.18 (1.02.44,6.17.18,4.30.43) 618 Nick Kane 12.23.03 (1.06.17,6.41.07,4.17.12) 784 Rich James 12.56.56 (1.06.09, 6.26.59,5.05.54) 1081 Ross Hale 14.20.18 (1.24.29,7.27.10,5.08.21) 1154 Tom Weaver 14.51.13 (1.18.36,7.18.11,5.58.45) 1195 Steve Sheppard 15.15.33 (1.21.07,7.34.51,5.47.10) and there was a good support team out too, though we were a bit spreadout (The Kane, Dale and James families, Alex, Matt, Corrine, Eric and Kathryn, Philippa and Mike, Tom's dad and girlfriend and Lynette) A great event, which I'm sure all will highly recommend to you

Dear P,
Thanks for putting this up saved me a job. Was great fun and Matt and I really appreciated the hard work that goes into supporting on an Ironman - we were knackered by the end of the day - both katharine and I lost our voice as we were shouting abuse at all the competitors not just our own. What a great day had by all who were there. Congrats to Jer for getting the KIT Lanza record, Lee you needed to shave 12 mins off the run but there is always next time. Rich had trouble with his knee for all thoes who wanted to know. However to run a marathon on his run training he completed is unheard of! Ross and Steve were like old washer women on their bikes chatting all the way round. Tom what a great effort on your first IM - you nutter. Dr Nick gave an amazing performance - he was a little humbled by the bike - well done to all the supporters who gave everybody their support.

Dear All, Well done all at Lanzarote - what a beast of a course! Sorry to be a pain on the stats but have you forgotten the old man Kes for the Lanza record? Maybe you are looking at more recent dates for your KIT records for Lanza, but going back to 1993 Kes represented Kingswood Tri Club at Lanzarote, aged 38, and his splits were swim 1:18; bike 6:32; run 3:59; total 11:50:19 The winner that year was Ben Van Zelst in 9:01:43, women's winner Katinka Wiltenburg in 10:18:18, both from Holland. The swim that year was about 10 mins longer on average because the turnaround buoy was a yacht that had broken loose and was floating off towards Africa! The good old days.... Cheers, Carol
