I've not been yet but I would be interested in getting up there a few times before Blenheim on 5th June. I've never done any open water swimming before so would be good to go with a few others if many are interested.
I know James mentioned possibly starting a Tuesday session up there soon...

We are very honoured that Kes A, level 3 BTA coach, IM extraordinaire would like to coach us in open water swimming techniques next Tuesday 3rd May from 18:00 at the Bradley Stoke Lake. This session will be essential for newbie’s and experienced triathletes alike on the skills and drills required for open water swimming. Kes will be explaining how to cope with mass starts, drafting, sighting, turning, open water swimming techniques etc. Depending on the first session there may be several subsequent training sessions – so if you are unable to make this one make sure you are on the next. Kes A has numerous accolades including being the most prolific IM finisher in the UK – currently 32 from across the globe. I have also been informed he has appeared more times at Hawaii IM than any other Brit so make a date for your diary next Tuesday 18:00 at West Country Water Park. Mike will be providing safety cover either on his jet ski or canoe. Please note the water quality has been tested in August 2010 and was confirmed as ‘good’ bathing quality. Mike is currently in the process of getting it tested again to ensure your health and safety. Directions Trench Lane, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS36 1RY. Call Mike on 01454 773599 or 07811 108587. Email us at mikewcw40@yahoo.com . More info on the lake..... www.triopenwater.co.uk/triathlon.html Please note that the Kes is providing his time freely to paid up KIT members and you pay your entry to the lake to Mike at £4.00 each. If non KIT triathletes would like to attend they will have to pay Kes directly – sum to be agreed.

Been down there 3 times over the last week, water temperature has been fine each time although was a bit cooler today. That said I was also tired so may have noticed it more. As the lake is fairly shallow I think temp will fluctuate quite a bit with weather conditions. Visibility is poor but not off putting and it tastes considerably nicer than longwell green pool. Nic and I are trying to get down there most Tuesday evenings (weather permitting).
